The Bittermelon welcomes the opportunity for Asian American parents to take a break from work and enjoy playing traditional Asian games with their children of any age! Spend meaningful time together as a family and/or hang out and meet other AAPI families. Light refreshments will be provided. Come to one or all game nights! (See below for all dates.)
Feel free to reach out to Al Lee at team@thebittermelon.org if you have questions or other games you would like included for game night.
Registration is not required but is helpful for headcount.
The Bittermelon will be hosting AAPI Family Game Nights for all ages on the following dates at the bookstore:
October 13th, 2026
December 1st, 2026
February 23rd, 2027
April 27th, 2027
THREE REASONS TO COME PLAY WITH YOUR FAMILY
Playing board games will make you happier! Reduce time on screened devices and increase mental wellness for everyone.
We get to learn traditional Asian games and reconnect with our heritage! Don’t worry if you don’t know how to play. Instruction will be provided for the following games: Mahjong, Weiqi/Go/baduk, and Mancala
The truth is Asian American families struggle with bonding. Immigrant parents from Asian countries often have different ways of expressing love, which can cause misunderstandings at home. AAPI Family Game Night is a special space for families to bond and work through (fun) problems together, which can later give space to work through other challenges too.
We can’t wait to see you there!
